To protect the population of Barenys, the <\/span>Torre Vella<\/span><\/b> was built, among other fortifications. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The beginning of tourism in Salou came in the 20th century, when several\u00a0<\/span>Modernist and Noucentist Villas<\/span><\/b><\/a> began to be built along Paseo Jaume I, one of the main axes of the municipality, just a few steps from the beach.
