It is a symbol of fertility, as it deposits natural fertiliser in the fields. Nowadays, there is a wide variety of ‘caganer’ figures, sometimes even with the faces of famous people. Another Catalan figure is <\/span>‘pixaner’<\/span><\/b>, a shepherd boy urinating, hidden in the bushes.\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The capital of <\/span>Costa Dorada<\/span><\/b>, <\/span>Salou<\/span><\/b>, hosts, every year, the performances of various living nativity scenes in the town, as part of the extensive Christmas programme which, every year, includes a wide variety of activities for all audiences.\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n On the one hand, <\/span>Protestant Church of Salou<\/span><\/b>, which is located at Carrer Pere Gales, 1, is organising its living nativity scene for the eighth year, on <\/span>16th and 17<\/span><\/b>th<\/span><\/b> of Decembe<\/span><\/b>r. This event has the collaboration of the town council and the participation of members of <\/span>Federaci\u00f3 de Pessebres Vivents de Catalunya<\/span><\/b>. This magnificent <\/span>nativity scene<\/span><\/a> reproduces the different scenes depicted in the Bible, and also includes references to the <\/span>ancient trades<\/span><\/b> that existed in the mountain villages, such as distillers, chestnut roasters, boatmen and many others.\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The whole village is transformed and travels back in time to offer visitors a unique experience, where they can enjoy the streets of Castell\u00f3 in a very original and different way.
