Today, only part of it remains, between the vaults of San Hermenegildo, as well as two of its towers, that of <\/span>Monges<\/span><\/a> and that of <\/span>Tintor\u00e9<\/span><\/b>.\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n One of the most significant elements of medieval architecture in Tarragona is its <\/span>Cathedral<\/span><\/b><\/a>, which was built on the highest part of the hill between the 12th and 14th centuries in a style that blends Romanesque and Gothic. Particularly noteworthy are the majestic <\/span>rose window <\/span><\/b>that presides over its fa\u00e7ade, as well as the main altarpiece, made by the Catalan sculptor <\/span>Pere Johan<\/span><\/b>, among other works of art. Also, its tall <\/span>bell tower<\/span><\/b>, 70 metres high, with a total of 15 bells. During your visit, you will also be able to see the rectangular <\/span>Cathedral Cloister<\/span><\/b>. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n In addition to this temple, you can visit other churches and chapels from the medieval period, such as the <\/span>chapels of Sant Pau and Santa Tecla<\/span><\/b>, dating from the 12th and 13th centuries, two smaller buildings, both rectangular in shape. The chapel of Santa Tecla can be found in <\/span>Carrer de les Coques<\/span><\/a>; and the chapel of Sant Pau, inside <\/span>‘El Seminari’ Centre Tarraconense<\/span><\/a>, located in Carrer de Sant Pau. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Another place of worship is the <\/span>church of Santa Maria del Miracle<\/span><\/b>, located inside the Roman amphitheatre, which is now almost demolished. This building was also known as Casa del Cambrer, as it was the home of the chamberlain of the See, the second most senior member of the Cathedral Chapter.\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n With the arrival of the mercenary Robert Bordet in the city of Tarragona, he ordered the construction of <\/span>Castell del Rei<\/span><\/b> (King\u2019s Castle)<\/span>, which became the residence of the Norman family until their subsequent exile in 1171, when it became the property of the Crown of Aragon.
