Barcelona is not the only city that organises events around this celebration; many Catalan towns and cities also join in this great festival in January.\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The origin of this great festival in <\/span>Barcelona <\/span><\/b>dates to the creation of the Sant Antoni neighbourhood in the 19th century. This parade has been going on uninterruptedly for <\/span>almost 200 years<\/span><\/b>, since 1825, making it the <\/span>oldest parade in the city<\/span><\/b> and the <\/span>second oldest in Catalonia<\/span><\/b>. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n It should be noted that the organising body has evolved over the years. It will be given by<\/span> Francesc Fabregat<\/span><\/b>, a Barcelona native who is part of the festive events in the city. Then, the animals will be blessed in front of the school.\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The route of <\/span>‘Els Tres Tombs 2024’ <\/span><\/b>is the usual one, passing through Carrer Cal\u00e0bria, Sant Antoni Market, Carrer Parlament, Ronda de Sant Pau, Carrer Urgell, Carrer Tamarit, Carrer Villarroel and Carrer Floridablanca, Ronda de Sant Antoni, Pla\u00e7a Universitat, Carrer Pelai and La Rambla, up to Carrer Hospital; and finally, back along Carrer Manso, until reaching <\/span>Pla\u00e7a Puig i Cadafalch<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Another significant element of the festival is the pig. This animal appears in numerous representations of Sant Antoni, who, it seems, cured an injured pig and the pig, in gratitude for his help, always accompanied him. This is why, since the 19th century, a <\/span>raffle <\/span><\/b>has been organised for Sant Antoni.
