Throughout the years, populations of all types and origins have passed through it, from Phoenicians, <\/span>Celts<\/span><\/b>, Greeks, <\/span>Romans <\/span><\/b>and Visigoths, among others. All of them have left their mark on the <\/span>history <\/span><\/b>and <\/span>culture <\/span><\/b>of the territory.\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n In this article, we are going to talk about the <\/span>Iberian settlement<\/span><\/b>, a civilisation that was present on the coasts of Catalonia several centuries before the arrival of the Roman Empire. One of the most outstanding towns is <\/span>Lloret de Mar<\/span><\/b>, in the county of La Selva, one of the first municipalities, in the south, after <\/span>Blanes<\/span><\/b>, that make up <\/span>Costa Brava<\/span><\/b>.\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n In this town, you will find two points: <\/span>Puig de Castellet <\/span><\/b>and<\/span> Tur\u00f3 Rod\u00f3<\/span><\/b>. The first of these, Puig de Castellet, located on a hill, is a strategic place due to its perfect view from the mouth of the river Tordera to the beach of Lloret de Mar. It was inhabited during the 3rd century BC. Also on a smaller hill is the settlement of <\/span>Tur\u00f3 Rod\u00f3<\/span><\/a>, of which up to <\/span>7 dwellings<\/span><\/b> remain, one of which has recently been rebuilt using materials from the period. Inside <\/span>Montju\u00efc <\/span><\/b>Park you can dive into the Iberian past of the city and the Catalan territory through the <\/span>Archaeology Museum of Catalonia<\/span><\/a>. Its facilities include a space dedicated to this indigenous civilisation. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Very close to Barcelona is the museum and <\/span>Iberian settlement of Ca n’Oliver<\/span><\/b>, in Cerdanyola del Vall\u00e8s, on Collserola mountain range. You can’t miss <\/span>visiting<\/span><\/a> its vast extension and its magnificent exhibition with more than 500 objects recovered from the period.\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Other notable settlements in the province of Barcelona include the <\/span>Puig Castellar<\/span><\/a> settlement<\/span>, in the town of Santa Coloma de Gramanet, with a surface area of some 4,000 m\u00b2, inhabited from the 6th to the 2nd century BC.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row custom_padding_last_edited=”on|phone” _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” width=”100%” custom_padding=”0px|||||” custom_padding_tablet=”|60px||60px|false|true” custom_padding_phone=”|40px||40px|false|true” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.17.4″ _module_preset=”default” width=”100%” min_height=”181.8px” custom_margin=”||||false|false” custom_padding=”3px||||false|false” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content” sticky_enabled=”0″]<\/p>\n The site of <\/span>La Font de la Canya<\/span><\/b>, in Avinyonet del Pened\u00e8s, where there is evidence of vineyard plantations; the extensive walled settlement located on <\/span>Ol\u00e8rdola <\/span><\/b>mountain; and the <\/span>Darr\u00f3 <\/span><\/b>complex, very close to the seafront of Vilanova i la Geltr\u00fa, a town on Garraf coast; among others.\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Costa Dorada<\/span><\/b>, like the rest of the Catalan coast, was home to the presence of this indigenous civilisation, in the towns closest to the sea, such as <\/span>Calafell<\/span><\/b>, where you can find the <\/span>Iberian Citadel<\/span><\/b>, a large fortified enclosure that has been reconstructed to offer a faithful vision of what it was like in ancient times, more than 2,500 years ago. This <\/span>site<\/span><\/a> can be visited several days a week.\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Further south, you will come to the municipality of Tivissa, where <\/span>Castellet de Banyoles<\/span><\/b> is hidden, one of the most important settlements in Catalonia and where the <\/span>Tivissa Treasure<\/span><\/a> was discovered, an exclusive collection of gold and silverware with up to 17 pieces, from vessels to jewellery, all made of silver and gilded silver. Archaeological remains have also been found in <\/span>Nulles <\/span><\/b>and <\/span>Vinebre<\/span><\/b>, two other towns in the province of Tarragona. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n We must not forget another important site that can be found in the tourism capital of Costa Dorada, <\/span>Salou<\/span><\/b>Iberian culture \u00a0<\/h2>\n
