Over time, this commemoration has expanded and transformed into a secular event that includes a variety of cultural and recreational activities. <\/span><\/p>\n The name “<\/span>Nits Daurades<\/span><\/b>” (Golden Nights) reflects the<\/span> magical and festive atmosphere<\/span><\/b> that envelops Salou during these summer nights, when the city lights up with shows, lights and music.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n On the big day of the festival, the 15<\/span>th<\/span> of August, the <\/span>procession of the Virgin Mary<\/span><\/b> takes place, carried on the shoulders of the members of the <\/span>Fishermen’s Guild<\/span><\/b>, who walk the route barefoot.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The route begins at 9 p.m. in the <\/span>church of Santa Maria del Mar in Salou<\/span><\/a>, where a mass in honour of the Virgin Mary is held an hour beforehand. It is worth noting that this church was built in 1766 by <\/span>Gremi de Mariners Matriculats <\/span><\/b>(fishermen), who were very present in the town’s <\/span>fishing past<\/span><\/b>. <\/span><\/p>\n Baroque and classicist in style, it has mural <\/span>paintings <\/span><\/b>by the artists <\/span>Llu\u00eds M. You can also enjoy the <\/span>Salou Festival Orchestra<\/span><\/b>, conducted by <\/span>Melani Mestre<\/span><\/b>, with pieces by \u00c0stor Piazzolla, Osvaldo Requena, Gardel, among others. As well as the most renowned local artists of the moment, from DJs to urban and pop music singers.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The programme also includes musical events for all tastes, such as a performance by the <\/span>Bada Bing Band<\/span><\/b>, <\/span>who will be singing cover versions of rock songs; the <\/span>80s party<\/span><\/b>; the <\/span>Salsa night<\/span><\/b>, with the group “Habana!”, on the 12<\/span>th<\/span> of August; and the concert by <\/span>La Privada orchestra<\/span><\/b>, to close the Nits Daurades festival.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Taking advantage of the good weather during these summer months, local entities take to the streets to show residents and visitors their most festive side, with incredible cultural shows all over the town.
