Located in the <\/span>Baix Camp<\/span><\/b> region, this small village was abandoned in 1961, when it was annexed to the municipality of <\/span>Vilaplana<\/span><\/b>. <\/span>Depopulation <\/span><\/b>began much earlier, due to the harsh living <\/span>conditions<\/span><\/b>: lack of access to drinking water, electricity, telephone and medical care were some of the main factors that led the inhabitants to leave. Residents used to travel to <\/span>Reus<\/span><\/b>, a few kilometres away, to run errands and stock up on supplies, which was not enough to keep the village alive. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n It is believed that the origin of La Mussara dates back to the Bronze Age, although the first written references date back to the Muslim occupation.
