Although born in <\/span>Barcelona<\/span><\/b>, it was in Mont-roig that Mir\u00f3 found the balance and inspiration that would mark the beginning of his authentic artistic language. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n His first visit took place in 1911, when, at just 18 years of age and convalescing from an <\/span>illness<\/span><\/b>, his family took him to <\/span>Mas Mir\u00f3<\/span><\/b>, the summer residence located on the village\u2019s outskirts. What began as a period of rest became a permanent connection with the area. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n During the following years, <\/span>Joan Mir\u00f3<\/span><\/a> would spend long periods in Mont-roig, dividing his time between Paris and retreats at Mas Mir\u00f3.
